CONTROL AND SUPERVISION SECTOR
 
Activities and tasks
The Control and Supervision Sector performs the following activities pertaining to:
  • Participation in the creation of technical basis for drafting regulations governing legal metrology and precious metals;
  • Enforcement of the Law on Metrology and other regulations governing metrology;
  • Supervision of the use of legal units of measurement;
  • Metrological supervision, including supervision of pre-packed products, and supervision of the expertise of authorised bodies;
  • Testing quantities of each individual pre-packed product;
  • Verification or examination of a measuring instrument for the verification of which there are no authorised bodies;
  • Record keeping and keeping of registers of measuring instruments subjected to legal metrology;
  • Provision of metrological information from the scope of the Sector that are of interest to the public;
  • Representation of the Republic of Serbia in international and regional metrology organisations and establishment of cooperation with international and European metrology organisations and institutions from other countries in the field of legal metrology;
  • Cooperation with other organs, companies and public services in the field of metrology;
  • Use of metrological expertise;
  • Testing the structure and fineness of test needles made of precious metals;
  • Determining whether conditions to be given the mark of a precious metal article manufacturer have been met and issuance of a decision on the mark of a precious metal article manufacturer;
  • Testing the structure and fineness of precious metal articles and analysis of alloys used to make precious metal articles;
  • Surveillance into the ability to maintain prescribed conditions at the business premises of the manufacturer/importer of precious metal articles;
  • Surveillance into a proof confirming that the gold articles are harmonised with the law and marking of precious metal articles that are placed on the market;
  • Keeping records and registers of precious metal articles, and other activities in this field.
The Control and Supervision Sector is comprised of the following smaller units:

Control and Supervision Section Niš;
Control and Supervision Section Kruševac;
Control and Supervision Section Novi Sad;
Control and Supervision Section Subotica;
Control and Supervision Section Zrenjanin;
Section for verification of measuring instruments;
Section for supervision on precious metals articles;
