EURAMET

European cooperation in measurement standards (EUROMET) was founded in Madrid in the year 1987 by signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the Member States. Bureau of Measures and Precious Metals was a corresponding candidate for membership of EUROMET from 2001 to 2005, and in the year 2005 it signed Memorandum of Understanding. European Association of National Metrology Institutes – EURAMET e.V. is a European regional metrology organization, founded in 2007 with the aim to coordinate cooperation between national metrology institutes in Europe in the areas of research in metrology, measurement traceability to SI units, international recognition of national measurement standards and calibration and measurement capabilities (CMCs) of its members. In addition to these tasks, EURAMET is responsible for managing and executing the European Metrology Research Program (EMRP). EURAMET fully maintain the existing structure of EUROMET and enlarged it with the new structure that is adapted to apply EMRP. By signing Rules of EURAMET e.V, the Bureau of Measures and Precious Metals became a founding member of EURAMET e.V. Membership in EURAMET is a necessary step to participate in the implementation of the Mutual Recognition Arrangement for national measurement standards and for calibration and measurement certificates issued by national metrology institutes (CIPM MRA). The Directorate has delegated its contact person in the Technical Committees through which submits it’s documented its documented calibration and measurement capabilities for publication in the database KCDB Annex C of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures, underlying the CIPM MRA.
