Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals began the new business phase by issuing a Decision on establishment of Integrated System (IS), which implies effort to meet requirements of three mutually compatible standards: ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 18001 (work safety management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management).

Decision on establishment of IS based on the commitment that assurance of quality of services, safety at work, as well as health and secure environment are necessary for successful business in Directorate.

On June 21 the Ordinance on the certain legal units of measurement and how they are used, published in the “Official Gazette of RS”, No. 43/11 of June 14, 2011, has become effective.

This ordinance regulates legal units of measurement that are not covered by International System of Units (Systeme International d’Units, SI), and which may be used in the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with the Law regulating the activities of metrology, as well as their use.

On the effective date of this Ordinance, the Ordinance on legal units of measurement (Official Gazette of SCG, No. 10/06) shall cease to apply.

Second Special Conference: National Metrology System –State of the Art, within the International Convention on Quality – JUSK ICQ 2011 was held in Belgrade on June 8, 2011.
The conference was chaired by Lucija Dujovic, Assistants of Director of for Control and Supervision Sector, Slavica Simic, Head of Group for thermometry and deputy of Head for Quality, and Tatjana Cincar Vujovic, Head of the Department for electrical Quantities, also all from DMDM.

Second Special Conference was dedicated to the novelties in metrological system and novelties in legal metrology of the Republic of Serbia, with the special emphasis to the role of the Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals, as National Metrology Institute and importance of interlaboratory comparisons.

At the Fourth session of the First regular term in 2011, on May 25, 2011, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia enacted the Law on Control of Precious Metals Articles, which is published in the “Official Gazette of RS”, No. 36/11. May 27, 2011 and is effective of June 4, 2011.

Calibration of weights accuracy classes of M1, M2 and F2 will be performed in regional Departments for control and metrology supervision. All requests for calibration of these weights shall be submitted directly to the responsible Department for control and metrology supervision.

Employees of the Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals (DMDM) celebrated World Metrology Day on May 20, 2011. Celebration opened Mrs. Vida Zivkovic, M.Sc., Director of DMDM.

On that occasion, Director of DMDM formally presented Certificates on accreditation of DMDM by Accreditation Body of Serbia.

Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals (DMDM) and the “Singidunum” University regarding World Metrology Day, held Round Table Symposium on May 17, 2011. This year is International chemistry year, dedicated to metrology in chemistry, with the motto:”Chemical measurements for our life, our future”.

Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals (DMDM), National Metrology Institute of the Republic of Serbia, founder and active Member of the Regional Metrology Organization in Europe EURAMET, was the host of the regular Annual Meeting of EURAMET Technical Committee of Acoustics, Ultrasound and Vibration (EURAMET TC-AUV), held in Belgrade on May 11-13, 2011.

Within Action Plan for 2011 of the EURAMET Focus Group in Skopje on April 27-29, 2011 was held Workshop on CIPM MRA: Peer review of quality management system, preparation of CMC and intercomparisons.

The Workshop was attended by the representatives of national metrology institutes (NMI) of Southeast Europe, and as the representative of Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals participated Slavica Simic, Head of Group for thermometry and deputy of Quality Manager in Directorate.

On April 29, 2011, the Accreditation Body of Serbia (http://www.ats.rs) announced that the decision about the accreditation of the Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals. According to the scope of accreditation, accredited was Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals, Metrology Development Sector, Group for dimensional quantities and acoustics, for calibration of end gauges by interferometry method according to standard ISO 3650: 1998 and Division for electrical quantities, for testing of electricity meters in accordance with a series of standards SRPS EN 62053 and SRPS EN 52470.

Eleventh TrainMiC Course in Serbia, titled “Principles and application of metrology in chemistry” was held in cooperation with the Accreditation Body of Serbia at the Palace of Serbia in Belgrade on April 13-15, 2011.

Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals (DMDM) in its premises in Belgrade organized on April 8, 2011, the seminar on “Energy and Safety”. The 13 participants from the Divisions of Control and Supervision in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Subotica, Zrenjanin, Krusevac and Nis participated in the seminar.

Organization of the Seminar was given to Tatjana Cincar Vujovic, and training and demonstration of measurement were in charge of Mrs. Nada Vucijak and Mr. Dusan Horvat.

On March 18, 2011the agreement was signed on business cooperation between the Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals (hereinafter DMDM) and the University “Singidunum” (hereinafter University). The subject of this agreement is to establish business cooperation between the DMDM and the University in order to strengthen ties in the field of metrology and education of students.

Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals, National Metrology Institution of Serbia, the founder and active member of the Regional Metrology Organization in Europe EURAMET, hosted the Sixth Meeting of the EURAMET Technical Committee on Quality (EURAMET TC-QUALITY). The 57 eminent professionals, representatives of the national metrology institutes (NMIs) from 33 countries of Europe participated in the work of the Technical Committee on Quality.

On March 1, 2011 at the premises of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development was held the first meeting of the Special Working Group for drafting the “Rules of procedures for prepackages”. The meeting was led by Head of the Special Working Group, Assistant Director of the Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals, Miss Lucija Dujovic. Members of the working group are informed on tasks and deadlines and have the opportunity to receive information through the presentation (3.31 MB) about this very interesting field of metrology, which is in development.

From March 1, 2011 the calibration of weights of accuracy class M1 will be performed in the regional Divisions of Control and Supervision of the Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals. All requests for calibration of these weights shall be submitted directly to the relevant Division of Control and Supervision.

From February 7, 2011 in parliamentary procedure is the proposed Law on Control of Precious Metal Articles. Detailed information is located on the site of the National Assembly of Serbia.
