World Standards Day, October 14, 2013

This year's message from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) jointly sent to the world to mark the World Day of Standard reads: "International standards provide positive changes." These changes are reflected in supporting the rapid growth of economic activities in developing countries, determining the optimal requirements and processes for waste disposal and recycling, removing barriers to communication and collaboration, and providing the products, services and environments become more accessible to people with disabilities. International standards allow countries around the world to participate in innovation, develop better infrastructure and improve energy efficiency, encouraging the general socio-economic progress.
