World Accreditation Day

International Accreditation Day is celebrated on June 9, as a global initiative jointly established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) to promote the importance and role of accreditation. Each year at the joint annual assemblies of IAF and ILAC is chosen the theme of the International Accreditation Day. Various events, media campaigns, as well as workshops and seminars taking place concurrently with the celebration if the International Accreditation Day in over 90 countries, so that the public be aware of the importance of accreditation. This year the World Accreditation Day is dedicated to the support which provides accreditation in the field of health and social care and is celebrated under the slogan “Supporting the Delivery of Health and Social Care”.

Health and social care have the same goals as almost all sectors, in an effort to provide services that meet the balance between quality, economic, social and environmental needs. Excellence in the field of health and social care is guided by the need to ensure security and trust towards patients, families, and those conducting health and social care.
Accreditation is a key instrument for those who provide services in the field of health and social protection of certification, as service providers, and medical devices, to accreditation of medical testing laboratories, diagnostic services and the inspection of providers of social welfare.

In accordance with the Statute of the Accreditation Body of Serbia, ATS (Accreditation Body of Serbia) every year celebrates also June 9 as the International Accreditation Day and June 28 as the Accreditation Day in the Republic of Serbia, the day when Serbia awarded the first accreditation in the year 2000.
