The Rulebook on the certification of water meters intended for use in households, business premises and light industry was published in the "Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia" No. 90/23 of October 24, 2023 and will enter into force on November 1, 2023, and applies from January 1, 2025.
This regulation prescribes in more detail the method and conditions of periodic and extraordinary verification of water meters intended for measuring the volume of clean, cold or heated water for use in households, business premises and light industry, the requirements that water meters must fulfill during verification, as well as the method of determining compliance requirements for water meters.
Rulebook on certification of non-automatic scales
The Rulebook on certification of non-automatic weighing scales was published in the "Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia" number 90/23 of October 24, 2023 and will enter into force on November 1, 2023.
This regulation prescribes in more detail the method and conditions of periodic and extraordinary verification of non-automatic scales, the requirements that a non-automatic scale must fulfill during verification, as well as the method of determining the fulfillment of requirements for non-automatic scales.
End of Daylight Saving Time
Based on the Law on Time Calculation ("Official Gazette of the SCG", No. 20/06), daylight saving time in 2023 ends on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at 3 h, 00 min, 00 s, so that, moving back one hour, the time at 3 h, 00 min, 00 s counts as 2 h, 00 min, 00 s.

Representative of the Directorate for Measures and Precious Metals at the meeting of the Liquid Volume Subcommittee of the EURAMET Technical Committee for Flow (EURAMET TC-F)
The representative of the Directorate for Measures and Precious Metals, Ljiljana Micic, head of the Volume and Flow Group, actively participated on October 19, 2023 in the meeting of the Subcommittee for Liquid Volume of the EURAMET Technical Committee for Flow (EURAMET TC-F), which was held via video - conferences.
The organizer of the meeting was the chairman of the Subcommittee for the volume of liquids EURAMET TC-F Elsa Batista, and the meeting was held in the presence of 20 eminent experts, representatives of national metrology institutes (NMI).
At the meeting, the statuses of the ongoing and completed key and supplementary comparisons were presented, as well as the plan of the planned international comparisons.
The revision of the guide EURAMET cg 21 "Guidelines on the Calibration of Standard Capacity Measures Using the Volumetric Method" has been completed and is expected to be published in early 2024, when it is planned to start the revision of the guide EURAMET cg 19 "Guidelines on the Determination of Uncertainty in Gravimetric Volume Calibration".
Ljiljana Mićić, in her capacity as the coordinator of the EURAMET project 1533 - Comparison of piston operated volumetric instruments, presented information on the supplementary comparison in which 14 national metrology institutes participate.
Students of the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy visiting the Directorate for Measures and Precious Metals
On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, the Directorate for Measures and Precious Metals (hereinafter: DMDM) hosted the students of the Technological and Metallurgical Faculty of the University of Belgrade.
On that occasion, students were introduced to the importance of metrology, as a science of measurements, which is present in all areas of human activity, the importance and method of ensuring metrological traceability to the international level, as well as the long tradition of metrology in Serbia. Through the promotional film, the importance and role of DMDM, as a national metrology institution, its competences, jobs and tasks in the field of metrology were presented.
The expert visit included a tour of laboratories for metrology in chemistry, thermometry, large and small volumes, as well as a laboratory for control on precious metals articles.
During the visit to the laboratories, the students had the opportunity to become more familiar with the measurement and calibration possibilities of DMDM, the international EMPIR projects in which DMDM participates, as well as other tasks performed as a national metrology institute.

The rulebook on the certification of automatic scales with the summation of discontinuous measurement results (scales with a basket) was published in the "Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia" No. 87/23 and will enter into force on October 21, 2023, and will be applied from January 1, 2025.
This regulation prescribes in more detail the method and conditions of periodic and extraordinary verification (hereinafter: verification) of automatic scales with addition of discontinuous measurement results (hereinafter: scale with basket), the requirements that the scale with basket must fulfill during verification, as well as the method determining the fulfillment of requirements for scales with a basket.
Rulebook on certification of taximeters
The rulebook on the certification of taximeters was published in the "Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia" No. 86/23 of October 11, 2023 and will enter into force on October 19, 2023, and will be applied from January 1, 2025.
This regulation prescribes in more detail the method and conditions of periodic and extraordinary verification of taximeters installed in taxi vehicles, the requirements that the taximeter must fulfill during verification, as well as the method of determining the fulfillment of requirements for taximeters.

Representative of the Directorate for Measures and Precious Metals at the meeting of the EURAMET Technical Committee for Length (EURAMET TC-L)
The representative of the Directorate for Measurements and Precious Metals, Slobodan Zelenika, Head of the Section for Dimensional, Optical Quantities and Acoustics, on October 9 and 10, 2023, attended the meeting of the EURAMET Technical Committee for Length (EURAMET TC-L), which was held hybridly.
The organizer and host of the meeting was the National Metrological Institute of Finland, MIKES, and the meeting was held in Helsinki.
The meeting was attended by more than 50 eminent experts, representatives of National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) and Designated Laboratories (DIs) from most European countries, including guests from other Regional Metrology Organizations (RMOs) such as Saudi Arabia and Australia.
